Nepenthe restaurant in Big Sur is perched on the edge of the continent. High above the Pacific and watched over by the Santa Lucia Mountains, Nepenthe opened April 24, 1949. Sitting on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine, an Ambrosia Burger, or one of our exceptional homemade desserts is a quintessential California experience. Views are unbeatable. Have never been to a restaurant with a better view! Get there early! We arrived 20 mins before they opened and they got us right in.

"Paying for views, not food. This was pretty great tho tbh, never really had a tofu veggie burger. Held a lot of the char flavor which was nice. Very expensive for a sandwich, but not when you realize where you are! "

"Huge basket of fries. I wish this had a special sauce of some kind. We ordered a thing of mayo. Mayo and fries is very lunch with a view vibes to me. Feels like Florida. We got the half portion and it this pic is after we ate half! "
